Resin Printing

Rest Time / Light Off Delay

We recommend the following Rest Time After Retract depending on different resin viscosities and printer build plate size. High Viscosity = thick and syrup-like. Low Viscosity = thin and runny.

High Viscosity Resins or Large Format Printers

  • Rest Time After Retract: 2-3 seconds

Low Viscosity Resins

  • Rest Time After Retract: 1-2 seconds

Why It Matters

When the build plate moves back into the vat to print the next layer, resin is displaced and moving. If the next layer is cured before the resin has reached rest, blooming is likely to occur.

If you'd like to learn more about blooming, Ameralabs wrote a great article on the effects of rest time and blooming, which we you can find here.
